WHAT IS CHASING HEROES?
Here’s our story: Three romance writing angels enter the dining room at the Hyatt in Dallas during the National RWA conference in 2007. They chat, realize that they all write romance with some degree of suspense or mystery elements, and they all want to explore blogging and the impact it can have–group style. An idea forms in their angelic brains and it grows and grows and grows until it can’t be ignored anymore.
After months (and months and months) of discussion and planning, these three angel authors have boldly gone where thousands have gone before them. Only they’ve done it with a twist.
“Why do we read romance?” one of the angels asked.
“For the happily ever after, of course,” the second angel replied.
“For the chase,” the third angel added.
They gave each other a sly, knowing look, smiled, and said together, “For the heroes!”
Thus ChasingHeroes.com was born.
ChasingHeroes.com is many things.
- It’s a look at why heroes appeal to us and what makes them tick.
- It’s a forum for discussion about heroes in pop culture including romance novels, movies, and T.V.
- It’s a site about the hero archetypes and has a multitude of examples. And pictures. Lots of pictures with more added all the time.
- It gives readers snapshots of heroes in books, their vital statistics, and looks at what makes these men so appealing.
- It’s a chance to learn about and talk with authors who write heroes exceptionally well.
- As a bonus, it branches into the heroines, their archetypes, the settings, and other externals that compliment and/or challenge a hero in a book.
ChasingHeroes.com is about one thing. Heroes. Need we say more?
So now that you know what ChasingHeroes.com is all about, will you be back? Tell us, will you?
Everyone loves a good hero, but what do readers, agents, editors, and writers love most? Join us as we delve under the covers and find out!

Will I be back? Most definitely.. for two reasons. First because of the sparkling writing I have seen on the site so far, interesting people with talent = interesting writing. Secondly because my own WIP has a fairly generic hero and you are giving me insight on how to make him a more interesting and heroic person without just being a cardboard cutout. So keep it up!

Thanks for stopping by, Mark! Everything you said makes us glow.
Providing something valuable to the reading/writing community was our goal and I’m so glad to hear that you think we’ve accomplished that. We’re going to be looking for you to come back!

What a great idea! Props to you ladies for taking what should be an obvious answer to the question of why we read (and write) romance, and turning that answer into what looks to be a fun and interesting place to discuss a favorite rom-related topic.
I’ll definitely be visiting again and linking here from my own blog.

Hi Angels (hmm, starting to feel like a certain Charlie!). Saw the link to the new blog on Romancing the Blog today. By the way, Misa, thanks for the plug for the Banditas! I think this is a great idea for a blog. I remember a really interesting article by Laura Kinsale in Dangerous Men and Adventurous Women (or is it Adventurous Men and Dangerous Women?) where she says a great hero is the heart of a good romance. And I think she’s right. So I’m really looking forward to seeing how you all explore the heroic here! Congratulations on your launch!

Heroes! Of course that’s whay I read romance novels and write them. I love a dark, brooding hero and a reluctant one because they are sexy, not matter what they think. Any man that puts himself first before others is hot.
