SKipper, warrior, chief, and guy always in a tux
I have fallen in love with Skipper. The lovable chief of the gang of Black-Op Penguins in the Madagascar movies. He’s always in charge, (just like I like them). Always has the answers, (be still my beating heart.) And is a wise cracking rico-suave’, never without his tux.
Skipper is the go-to-guy. He has the answers. He can fix almost anything, including a broken down plane to fly to Africa. Where he manages a sense of humor as the plane crash lands in the middle of a animal reserve. All are safe on board because of his leadership, including his one true love, Doll. Who is a doll. Really she is. Which turns out to be his one very weird tick.
Still, Skipper is James Bond in short form. At least that’s what he believes. Which keeps him, going as he protects and serves his group of buddies, while never leaving anyone behind.
The Look:
Skipper isn’t very tall, maybe three feet, but he doesn’t know that, and doesn’t have a short man’s complex. He’s always dressed for the occasion in his tux. He’s always ready for action. Skipper clears the air with his faux tough sophistication, that hides his sensitive side.
The Leading Lady:
His one true love, and new wife, is Doll. She’s a little quite, and depends heavily on Skipper to protect her. A bit of wimp if you ask me, but that’s just me. I think he needs someone stronger, more sophisticated, someone…someone like a retired cop. But, sob, its too late, he’s now taken…Oh curse the woman who stole him from–our relationship was just a rumor. But that’s another blog.
Dang that hip swaying little skinny straw girl.
Someone give me a match.
The Bottom Line:
Skipper embodies, The Man from U.N.C.L.E, James Bond, and Maxwell Smart, all in one, as he represents all the great secret agents of the silver screen. He’s a warrior, a chief, as he leads his penguins, of Air Penguin, through one dangerous mission after another, only to arrive on the other side safe and sound.
Secret agent stuff isn’t his only talent, he’s a great negotiator, as he convinces a group of Chimpanzees to work on the plane that would take him, and (deep sigh) doll on their honeymoon. Dang, her again.
I’ve expanded my search for the match to include a flame thrower.
Sigh, he is every man, and then some. Something, I can’t resist him.
So when he tires of Doll, well, he has my number.
Skipper reminds me of Poppy. Who would probably dive for cover with embarrassment if he knew I compared him to a Penguin. It’s no wonder I love them both. For they both make me smile with their antics, which make me laugh out loud. During these difficult times, they remind me, the simplest things are the best, like a good belly laugh.
Question of the Day: Who, both fictional or real, makes you laugh out loud?

Lee, this blog cracked me up. I haven’t seen Madagascar, but Skipper sounds like an awesome hero! And, hey, I don’t mind a short guy. I’m short too!
I watch Boston Legal. Both James Spader and William Shatner are funny. Neither have leading man looks — although at one time they did — but they’re funny and their dialogue is witty, and I love their loyalty to each other. I also love that Candace Bergen is in the show as an attractive woman.

LOLOL!!! You are hilarious! You’ve got me totally curious about this hot penguin. Who’s the voice behind the tux?
My husband is the guy who can make me laugh out loud, even when I don’t want to laugh, and that’s pretty amazing after almost 18 years of marriage! Steve Carell makes me laugh and get choked up. Not your typical leading man, either, but I LOVED him in Dan In Real Life. He’s actually a nuanced actor!

I love Boston Legal, its one that does make me laugh out loud, usually as I watch Poppy laughing at Shatner…I love to laugh out loud and make others laugh too.

I love Steve Carell too, as well as Larry David in Curb Your Enthusiasm. Fun blog, Lee!
