Whether or not you are Republican or Democrat, you can’t deny the strength of Al Gore’s character. He went from Vice President of the United States to Presidential hopeful. From presidential hopeful to a Tonight Show joke--remember the recounted ballots in Florida? George W. Bush garnered 271 electoral votes to Gore’s 266, yet Gore won the popular vote [only the 4th time in history that a candidate has not been elected to the highest office in the nation without the popular vote]. From there, Gore disappeared for a spell, but then he came back into public consciousness with An Inconvenient Truth. Now, years later, the truth is still inconvenient and Gore is still advocating for change and green living. He most recently said in a speech, “The survival of the United States of America as we know it is at risk. And even more - if more should be required - the future of human civilization is at stake.” I can’t say that I agree with or disagree with Gore’s politics, but I do agree with his take on our Earth, what’s happening to it, and what we must do to help it.
