Down With Diabetes
My hero profile today is not a character in fiction. Instead it is a real person, fellow author Brenda Novak. Brenda’s son, Thad, has Type 1 diabetes. Feeling helpless, Brenda launched a grass roots effort to raise money for diabetes research. Her online Auction to Raise Money for Diabetes was born. Now in it’s fourth year, the action has grown into an enormous event for the writing community, as well as the reading community at large. I support Brenda’s auction 100% as my own son also has Type 1 diabetes. It’s a life altering disease and one that we can fight through research.
